2. For this artist conversation, by observing most of her artwork, it is mostly made of photography, plants, creating sculptures using alive plants as well as having tea. The minor part of tea was to dye the tea into the color into any color that they desire. There was little to no paint involved. It mostly involved plants, photography, some origami (paper birds) as well as tea. Most of her artwork consists of straight lines and curved lines. Most of her artwork’s color is vivid primary colors. The is the main concept that she was tying to point out; however, there is only one picture under the Prints tab that is in all black and white.
3. To my understanding, the author is showing her work of art in the way that she is showing her interests as a way to oppose depression during COVID – 19. The way that she copes with COVID – 19 is to grow as many plants as possible, do some origami as well as to make sculptures using alive plants. These activities are meant to be alternative to going out to the streets having fun as well as meeting family and relatives in person. Knowing that most of current students has lost motivation towards school, it is significantly harder for Kiyomi to reach out to her students. Those factors that lead into why students are harder to reach out to Kiyomi is because they completely lost motivation towards school in a way that they are trying their best to focus towards finishing the remaining of the semester but is in a distracted environment, one of their family members or friends is worried that one member of their family gets the coronavirus, thus leading into being more scared of the coronavirus, as well as doing their best to push through by studying for finals and last assignments for other classes.
4. What this means to me is that there are ways to find motivation towards rushed online classes (last minute format change) due to COVID – 19. Kiyomi’s way of finding entertainment safely during COVID – 19 are very interesting to do during a pandemic. Origami, being the easiest way to entertain ourselves during the pandemic by having paper lying around old notebooks that we do not use or any paper that we have at home, as well as looking online for find tutorials for orgimai or download the pdf of origami book and read it off of there. Also, I may want to consider to growing a new tree. The way that I cope with the lost of motivation towards the rest of the semester was to watch some Netflix, bake things, minimize distractions towards school as well as to ride my bike as much as possible to relieve the stress from other classes. Yes, my life resonates with the COVID – 19 situation is because no one is able to go out to hang out with friends, family, and relieves as well as for those who try to workout at gyms are unable to workout because they closed. Despite the situation, I am hoping that professors are more lenient for this grading scale such as curving the class, shortening the term projects, as well as to have open book and open notes during exams.

2. The materials that I chose was the internet router (the source of WIFI), a snack, plant, chromecast, my xbox one x, and my change. The reason why I chose these items is because without one of those vital items during the current pandemic, there is nearly no way that we will get through the times of the pandemic. Most importantly, if the internet were to go down, then it’s double the trouble because we cannot use the internet to access Netflix to destress ourselves from school, and having no internet access for school is going to be painful because there is no way to communicate between faculty, or classmates for help from homework, especially the majority of the population of students already or if not starting to lose motivation towards finishing the last 2 to 3 weeks of school. Secondarily, without the change that I saved up from the past, I would not able to afford food as well as other necessary things for a living.
3. My piece of sustainable art may get other viewers confused towards why I am posting pictures of stuff.
4. My choice of materials influenced the experience of my artwork by taking pictures of the source of the most important part of which would try to have the society be destressed as well as to be kept busy. For example, I chose to take a picture of my wifi router because it is the most important thing to keep me studying as well as to have access to watch tv during break. My xbox one x influences people to become gamers until the economy reopens because most college students are unable to leave the house with the exception of work, or getting groceries so, might as well let them enjoy gaming while they dealing with a hard time focusing on online classes.
5. A kiss should last for a while.
6. A great meal should last approximately 5 hours.
7. A work of art should last for years.
8. A marriage should last for decades.
9. A human life should last about at least 7 to about 10 decades.
10. Yes.
11. Yes, clean water, air, and land should last for eternity.
12. I doubt that 1 person can cause a drastic change (outlier) to a Climate Change besides the fact that an intermediate animal spread the coronavirus to a human, and then it takes at least 1 host for the coronavirus to infect any amount of people, depending on who has it and if there are any places with huge crowds or not.

Hello, my theme is supposed to be about depression due to COVID – 19 and to really show how as humans truly feel about an event that is very similar to the great depression as well as being worse than 9/11. Lately, I have been depressed that I have lost some motivation in school; however, I am doing my best to push through the COVID – 19 and to try to finish the semester as strong as possible. Fortunately, the university allows the option to take credit or no credit grading option in case if you want to save you G.P.A; however, I am still doing the best that I can in order to pass all of my classes, despite the fact that we have to study in a distracting environment as well as the sudden changes to zoom. As we all know, there is a lot of work companies that had to close or close earlier as well as some instances of the stock market crashing. For example, the Nintendo Switch is officially out of stock for weeks and still out of stock almost everywhere. Luckily, my family is there with me as well as having the Nintendo Switch before this COIVD – 19 happened.
For me, the best way to cope with COVID – 19 crisis is to do the best to finish the rest of the semester virtually (it will be very hard at times) as well as to relax such as watching netflix, video games, and many more. As we hope to see the tunnel of light from the COVID – 19, let’s do our best to have an activity to do to alleviate depression to buy us time to defeat COVID – 19. By the time that the COVID – 19 has vanished, the society will not only able to live its normal life again, but also we expect to see more crowds later than never.

Here is the mock CSULB Map:

2. Based on her work that was posted on her own social media website, I can tell that she wants to explain the times that she has been through depression, and according to the video from Youtube, she explicitly states that “there is a lot of conflicting ideas and feelings that people might have in specific situations”. Even though she had neutral feelings about the Iranian Revolution, it turned out for her family, it was not a great feeling because her mom was working and there are new political changes that apply to work as well as outside of work. Also, the way that her family is coping with the situation is to have illegal items such as international video tapes, satellite dishes to see trending news around the world, implying that Iran had very strict or low internet access. In addition to possibly country political rules, if someone leaves the country, then that person who left may not able to return to visit their respective families. According to one of pieces of art named “The Unexpected” under Photography, I know that there is no caption at all and every photo is in black and white, so I am going to guess that the photos could symbolize depression, and gloominess. The lines are straight because the photos were taken via photography and then edited to appear as black and white. The photos were taken at a good angle where I can see the photos as how it was originally took.
3. According to the plants that was showed on Youtube, she explains the experience of how plantation of every country is different from Iran. Also, when she first left Iran and moved to Malaysia, and eventually the United States, she stated that when she first took a footstep outside her home country, she immediately felt isolated as being feeling depressed. In order for her to feel better, she needs to find time to appreciate her plants. According to her actions to plants, she was explaining how plants are important just like a person. Also, the key thing to plants is that it needs enough water in order to survive. Even though someone may forget to water the plants daily, the plant overall may still survive; however, the plant can still grow abnormally such as the plant not able to grow not as much leaves compared to how many leaves it can actually grow. Also, the advantage is that the plant is doing its best to grow new roots in the new environment. All in all, this can relate to you get what you put in type of scenario. For example, playing piano may be very difficult for beginners at first knowing that there is many keys and notes that can play simultaneously. Similarly, if she takes the time and commits to herself that she needs to try her best not to forget to water her plants, then it is better for the plant to grow and adapt into their new environment.
4. What the contents to me really means is that as of right now, I am feeling gloomy as well as feeling depressed. As the COVID – 19 crisis is still under our plate, it is a very big factor in regards to why essential goods are running low on inventory. Due to COVID – 19, another factor is that it was the cause and the effect was that every place that had a large gathering, regardless of being public or private, the law required the emphasis of social distancing, thus closing almost every store except for grocery stores and fast food restaurants. Also, it was noticed that the schools were not prepared for this situation like this to appear, especially two students at CSULB are tested positive. Also, the university did not give enough time to have the students, faculty, staff, and advising services to fully prepare for transitioning from face – to – face classes to online classes. Giving staff, and faculty only a week to prepare how to use zoom for online classes and for their incoming assignments is definitely not enough time, especially considering how many people are in a particular class, how to lecture, and how to hold office hours. Just like Mahsha Soroudi learned that she needed to take some time and have the ability to cope with any situation, If I am able to apply the same learning concepts just like Mahsa Soroudi, then I am able to overcome the fear of getting distracted instead of being at an online class. All in all, even though I feel the same way as Masha Soroudi due to COVID – 19, I will do my best to cope with the current situation as well as to do well mentally and physically.

2. For this artist conversation; unfortunately, this one is a little bit confusing, but I will still try my best to have a good understanding of what is the author’s purpose. According to most of the pictures that she took, most of them were made of acrylic, oil paint, charcoal, mixed media and much more. Most of the pictures had consistent lines which is straight, but there are some that have jagged lines. Most of her work that involve eating disorder as well as body dysmorphia. Most of them had color involved and can tell that there is always a message behind each photo. But understand that to others, some may be harder to understand the big picture behind each photo. But there is this one photo that is mostly black and white only; however, there are some light shadings of yellow that defeats the purpose of black and white. However, what is interesting is that there are good amounts of muted pastel colors involved.
3. To my understanding, the author is drawing photos to best to her ability to have the readers of what has dealt with in the past to what she may be with dealing with now. It does show clearly that she has overcame some stuff that she had to deal with back then. One example that I can take is her early college career, whereas when she first started college, there is an image that shows that she is trying her best to ignore all the negative connotations about her as well as to be the best as she can. In that particular case, it seems that there is a lot happening in that background. Also, there are words such as sexy, great ass, moves, etc, that pressure her to become a bad influence even if she didn’t know what that was if she were to be younger. Also, there are other people staring directly at her, so that way, she feels less comfortable about her body. In order to combat for herself, it seems like that she is putting her arms around her ears to ignore negative comments in regards to any negative comments about her body. Fortunately, she is able to conquer her fears such as eating disorders and body dysmorphia, as Sienna Browne progresses, she will conquer all fears of anxiety!
4. What this means to me is that disorders are not only serious to deal with, but also portraying them art could be very practical nowadays. Also, this is unfortunate that body dysmorphia and eating disorders does not apply to me. Knowing that Sienna Browne is not the only person in the world that is coping or has coped wit body dysmorphia and eating disorders, there should be at least other artists that draw pictures that best represent them struggling with these disorders that they have been coping with for a long time. Hopefully, humans can be stronger than their current disorder. All in all, there are many opportunities to express any disorder through drawing pieces of art. Respectfully, Sienna has shown fabulous pieces of art in order to think less about her disorders that she has shared with us.

2. What I ended up doing as a last resort for the activity was to study at the library. In the meantime, I asked a random group of students that studying as a group the following questions: “1) What do you think my name is?” “2) What do you think my major is?”.
3) Unfortunately, there was no with me while I was doing the activity.
4) Yet, their reactions was that they thought my name was Micheal. They assumed that I was a communication major by the way I dressed. The reason why I looked like a student that was majoring in communication major was because I was wearing the North Face hat and seemed like I fit in with students that are majoring in communication. Also, I asked a different student within the group what my major was and assumed that I was a journalism major just by my appearance.
5) However, my actual name is Daniel and my actual major is Computer Science. It is indeed that Computer Science is a very frustrating major as well as the courses are very difficult. Right after I told my name and introduced the group of students, then I suddenly started reading a little bit about Heap Sort, what it is, the way it works, as well as knowing that Heap Sort is very similar to selection sort which is to keep finding the current element and then directly swapping positions with them until the array is sorted; however, knowing that it is based on the Binary Heap Data Structure. The way that Heap Sort works is that it gets all the elements and sorts them into a Heap (a tree).
6) All in all, it was a great experience. At least, I got an idea of how people think of me versus what I really am. Also, it was a fun activity where I can go to where many people are at. In this case, it’s in CSULB Library at the 5th floor, where there is a lots of group studying. At the end of the day, I was able to find one group of where I can ask people to guess my name and major by looking at my appearance. In reality, my appearance was able to trick a lot of people thinking that I am a journalism or a communication major; however, I am actually a student that is majoring in Computer Science. I was glad that this activity was able to trick many people thinking that I am a Liberal Arts major.
According to the McDonald’s App, the current price of the big mac is about $5.28 after tax.

2. The idea that I was trying to communicate was the idea that the society is looking for reality over advertisements. Reality is the statement of how real or how true is one person, group, or industries are. One example of reality are television shows such as the Super Bowl and American’s Idol. On the other hand, an expectation(s) is the statement how one person should behave or how should situations play out morally. Examples of expectations such as how Asian parents expect their children to do well in school, or if someone were to get sick or an emergency happened to them, then an assistant manager, shift leader, or a general manager can ask a random person to cover a shift or ask a person that is already scheduled to work to come in earlier.
3. Hopefully, my explanations of expectations vs reality and the examples that correlate to it make sense to the reader and if that is the case, then I will be successful towards explaining the differences. In order to clarify my explanations, I chose an easy example which is fast food restaurants advertisement vs what the burger actually looks like when the customer receives the food.
4. If I were to do the concept of expectations vs reality again someday, then I will do another more obvious example of fast food restaurants. The one example that concerns me the most is The mac n’ cheese from Panera Bread. According to TikTok, a video sharing service, a former employee of Panera Bread exposed how the mac n’ cheese is made. The expectations of the mac’ n cheese was that it was supposed to be made in the kitchen the day when a customer places an order. Due to the a leak from TikTok, it comes a bag of frozen mac ‘n cheese and in order to heat it up, they do is boil it in hot water.
5. Another idea that I would like to share besides “Expectations vs. Reality” is social norms and how the society lives up to social norms.
2. For the arts of work, it seems that all of their paintings have lines which are consistent. They are a mixture of both light and dark colors. There are mostly light colors which was from mixing oil paint with titanium white paint. The dark colors that were involved was blue, brown, and red – orange. Yes, half of the pieces had straight lines. The photos that had the straight lines were the photos of the human cells and the tweaked version of the entrance of the cave. The other half of the paintings had lines that were jagged. The reason why the bell pepper was jagged was because I saw inconsistencies such as uneven edges of the bell pepper. The seeds also looked like one side was made from circles; yet on the other hand, the seeds on the right looked like dabs of the remaining ink of the white marker. Unlike the pieces of art from the very first artist conversation with Jean Iwohara and Chanmealea Huy, these pieces of art are a lot bigger and I did not have to come as far to see the pieces of art. No, it is not made from black and white because Madeline’s commitment highly involved not using black. Even though Madeline used titanium white, she did not use it directly as a color, but she used it to mix it with other colors to make newer colors. No, there no vivid pastel colors involved. But, there are vivid primary colors involved.
3. Vida’s main focus was to emphasize the form of living things and creatures which can be parts of the respiratory body, plants, fruits, animals, as well as wild animals. For Vida’s main focus, she used a bell pepper to represent the time lapse of the bell pepper, to an extent where no one in the family is going to eat it. Overtime, the bell pepper is gradually getting rotten to the point where it’s natural form will be messed up as well as becoming inedible. When biomorphism is applied, it looks very similar to a human’s heart which it tries very hard to live healthy to live as long as possible. The second focus was cell structures and from living things which was done by Fabiola Sillas. The human cells were very interesting to look at because it gives a visual representation of what actual human cells look like. The healthy cells are red cells that have nothing in them. The black part inside human cells are most likely damaged cells which could be caused by the long term effects of smoking cigarettes daily. It can be seen as if the remaining cells are trying so hard to survive by the absence of smoking. The third idea which was done by Madeline Taylor was to scrap as much information as possible via landscape. For the cave entrance photo, she went to a cave and drew it as she was looking, so that way she can have an idea where it resembles the air flow of the respiratory system. The air flow of the respiratory system is very crucial to a human’s living, which allows blood flow and air to travel in and out of the body.
4. All in all, the whole idea behind biomorphism is to represent the photos or paintings that look very similar to human livings organs such as the heart, lungs, cells, etc. Unfortunately, the concept of biomorphism does not resonate with me because most of my drawings and sketches back then mostly applied to the central idea of what I was enjoying at the moment. Examples of art that resonated with me was drawing of trees, drawing ideas of what I enjoy as well as the sky. Hopefully someday, the way that biomorphism will resonate with me is to represent my fruits or or my property wearing down and starting to break to show that they have a certain lifespan such as electronics, food, clothing and much more things. Therefore, artists combine the logic of life span things into pieces of art to combine the concept of biomorphism as well as other art techniques, which is a very important message to viewers like us.
